SALINE COUNTY - A harvester combine was destroyed after catching on fire in Saline County. 

According to the Saline County Sheriff's Office, on Wednesday, October 22 at around 5:00 pm, deputies and Rural Fire District (RFD) 5 were dispatched to the 4900 block of E. North St., after a John Deere combine was reportedly on fire.

RFD 5 quickly extinguished the fire and nobody was injured.

The owner of the combine, Ricky Leister, stated he was harvesting soybeans, heard “popping sounds” and the combines hydraulic fluid caught fire.

Total loss of value was $40,000 and approximately $400 worth of soybeans were burnt/destroyed.
