Obituary for Phyllis Reese-Spangler | Ryan Mortuary

May 29, 1937 ~ February 22, 2021 (age 83)

Phyllis Reese-Spangler, 83, went to her heavenly home on Monday, February 22nd, 2021, with her husband and sister by her side. Phyllis was born in Gypsum, KS, on May 29th, 1937.

Phyllis was united in marriage to Eugene Reese on June 9th, 1960. He preceded her in death. She was married to Norman Spangler on April 18th, 2020. He survives of the home.

Phyllis is survived by her son, Jim Reese (Stacey) of Beloit, KS; daughters, Stephanie Moyer of Gypsum, KS, and Joyce Hitchcock (Gordy) of Mentor, KS; stepchildren, Jeff Spangler of Dallas, TX and Susan Baughm (Ray) of West Palm Beach, FL; former daughter-in-law, Susan Johnson; brother, James Peck of Independence, MO; sisters Lucretia Henry and Marge Bowles of Gypsum, KS and Delores Moore of Belvidere, IL. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Margaret Peck; her first husband, Eugene; granddaughter, Mindy Reese; stepson, Doug Spangler; son-in-law, Eldon Moyer; grandson Kevin Moyer; brothers, Warren, William and Lewis and sisters, Kate, Isabelle, Dorothy and Grace.

Phyllis was a homemaker and proud farm wife. She was a 4-H leader and member of the Needle Craft Club and Family and Community Education Organization, for many years. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Evangelical Presbyterian Church. She was an avid Painter and her family is blessed to have her works of art. She loved her family and especially enjoyed her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held at Ryan Mortuary in Salina, on Thursday, February 25th, from 4-8 p.m., with family receiving visitors from 5-8 p.m.

Services will be at Mt. Pleasant Evangelical Presbyterian Church, 1344 Daisy Rd, Abilene, KS on Friday, February 26th at 10 a.m., with burial following at Poheta Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The ARC of Saline County and Mt. Pleasant Evangelical Presbyterian Church. Memorials are in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 North 8th Street, Salina, Kansas 67401.
