Family jewelry, cash deposits from restaurant stolen

Restaurant cash deposits and jewelry totaling $6,300 were taken from a south Salina residence Friday.

Xiao Yun Lin, 55, of Salina, arrived home from working at Hong Kong Buffet and discovered the back garage door had been broken into, according to Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester. Damage was estimated at $50. Additionally, the door leading into the house from the garage was open, and upon entering the residence, she noticed several kitchen cabinets were open.

Forrester reported that a gold family heirloom necklace and a bracelet were taken from inside the residence. Additionally, cash from deposits from Hong Kong Buffet was also taken. Total loss was estimated at $6,300.

The burglary occurred sometime between 10:30 a.m.-9:50 p.m. Friday in the 2500 block of Highland Avenue.
