February 16, 1929 - April 3, 2022

Alvin L. Cook, age 93, lifetime Concordia resident, entered into rest on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at the Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia, Kansas. He was born on Feb. 16, 1929 in Concordia, Kansas to Herman and Grace (Wretling) Cook.

Alvin was a 1947 graduate of Jamestown High School, Jamestown, Kansas.  After high school he attended Kansas State Agriculture College in Manhattan, Kansas.

Alvin was united in marriage to Lottie Jo Swengel on May 27, 1951 at the First Christian Church in Concordia, Kansas.  To this union two daughters were born, LaVeda and LuAnn.

Alvin was a member of the First Christian Church where he served as an elder for 50 years.  He also served on the Board of Soil Conservation Service, Cloud County Dairy Association, Cloud County Sheep Association, Jamestown Rural Fire District Board, and West Branch Cemetery Board.

He was a lifetime farmer and rancher in the Cloud County community.

Alvin truly enjoyed taking care of his sheep, cattle and spending time outdoors.

Alvin is survived by his wife, Jo Cook, Concordia, two daughters,  LaVeda Hobbie (Gary), Salina, KS; LuAnn Callan (Jerry), Clay Center, KS; four grandchildren, Vanessa White, John, James and Hannah Callan and one great-grandson, Ben White; a niece, Bonnie Driskell (Russ), Taos, NM;

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Grace, and one sister, Lula Mae Bolander.

Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m, Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.  Family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Christian Church, Concordia, Kansas with Pastors Dwight Whitead, Al Paredes and Matthew Carder officiating.  Burial will follow in the West Branch Cemetery, rural Concordia, Kansas.
