Margarette Arlene (Tremblay) Morel Larson, 92, of Marquette, KS, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 15, 2024, at the Lindsborg Community Hospital.
Margarette was born on a small farm in Graham County, Kansas on July 7, 1931, the daughter of Roland E. and Dora E. (Derusseau) Tremblay. She was the fourth child, with three sisters and two brothers.
She attended grade school at Iron Clad Country School for eight years, three years at Bogue High School, and one year at Hill City High School.
Margarette married Alphia Morel on April 12, 1948, and moved to Marquette on April 15, 1948. They had four children together; Danny, Janet, Michael, and Bryan.
On May 7, 1970, Margarette became a widow and later married Robert Larson of rural Marquette on April 19, 1974. Three stepsons were added to the family; Darris, Lyle, and Craig. On April 4, 1998, Margarette was again widowed.
Her jobs have included: a clerk at Marquette’s grocery store and liquor store, a waitress at the local City Café, and a nurse’s assistant at the Lindsborg Community Hospital.
Her hobbies included baking, gardening, and playing cards. She faithfully attended church at St. Bridget’s Catholic Church in Lindsborg. She was also actively involved on the Park Board, Senior Center Board, and the Marquette Modern Club. She was a 65-year member and past officer of the Marquette American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include: children, Danny (Pam) Morel of Marquette, KS, Janet (Richard) Gregwire of McPherson, KS, Michael (Kathy) Morel of Marquette, KS, and Bryan (Susan) Morel of Lindsborg, KS; stepsons, Darris (Jennifer) Larson of Salina, KS and Craig (Jackie) Larson of Marquette, KS; a brother, Ed (Carolyn) Tremblay of Hill City, KS; a sister, Elaine (Dwyte) Dockins of Hill City, KS; ten grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Alphia Morel and Robert Larson; siblings, Madeline Keith, Mary Keith, and Adrian Tremblay (all of the Hill City area); a step-son, Lyle Larson; a grandson, Kelcey Morel; and two stillborn children.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 12, 2024, at the Marquette Cemetery.
