The Kansas Wesleyan offense put on a show, and pitcher Jansen Lublin (FR/San Diego, Calif.) tossed a 4-hit gem as the Coyotes blasted the York Panthers 17-0 in seven innings on Tuesday at Dean Evans Stadium.
The 17 runs by the Coyotes was the second time this season that KWU has scored 17, and the most since KWU scored 19 last season against Oklahoma Wesleyan before the shutdown.
Tyler Triano (SO/Hollister, Calif.) had an impressive day for the Coyotes. He homered twice, and drove in eight runs, as both blasts were grand slams.
The Coyotes scored twice in the first inning. Austin Cross (JR/Montgomery, Texas) led off with a double and then scored on Trey Lopez (SR/Burlington, Wash.)'s single. Haydn Brown (SR/Gardnerville, Nev.) would score the second run of the inning after a hit.
KWU blew the game open in the second with eight runs. Dalton Bishop (JR/Colorado Springs, Colo.) led off with a double and scored on Jakeub Scheid (FR/Bradenton, Fla.)'s single. Tyler Latham (JR/Wichita Falls, Texas) then drove in a run with a double. After Cross walked, Brown connected on a 2-run triple. Walks to Lopez and Josh Sandoval (SR/Glendale, Ariz.) set up Triano's first grand slam out to center field.
Bishop joined the homer party in the fourth knocking one out to left center that also brought in Triano who walked in the inning.
The Coyotes loaded the bases again in the fifth for Triano to empty them with his second grand slam of the game.
Lublin faced a little adversity in the top of the sixth as York loaded the bases, but Lublin would end the inning with a strikeout looking.
Wesleyan added one final run in the bottom of the sixth as William Dryburgh (SO/St. Joseph, Mo.) singled and then scored on Aaron Gardner (SO/Tucson, Ariz.)'s single to center.
Brown was 4 for 4 for the Coyotes and only needed a homer for the cycle. Cross, Triano and Bishop all had two hits.
Lublin scattered four hits in the game, while striking out eight.
The Coyotes are back in action on Thursday for some late morning baseball. KWU will host Oklahoma Wesleyan in a doubleheader at 10 a.m. at Dean Evans Stadium.
