Salina Police have made an arrest in the Sunday evening robbery of a north Salina convenience store.
At approximately 6:50 p.m. Sunday, a man walked into the Pump Mart, 1118 North Ninth Street, and asked the clerk for some scratch-off lottery tickets, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said Monday. The man then allegedly grabbed the clerk's shirt, held a knife against her chest, and demanded money from the cash register, Forrester said. When the clerk opened the register, the suspect took money from it, and left with the money, some cigarettes, and some lottery tickets, he said.
Through an investigation, police were able to identify Jose Ramirez, Jr., 24, of Salina, as the suspect in the case, Forrester said this morning. At 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, police executed a search warrant at Ramirez's residence at 340 South Ohio Street, where Ramirez was located and taken into custody, Forrester said.
In addition to an active failed to appear warrant, Ramirez was arrested on the following requested charges, Forrester said.
Aggravated robbery
Aggravated battery
Aggravated intimidation of a witness
Possession of marijuana
Possession of drug paraphernalia
