KWU women's tennis defeats Bethany 5-2

Kansas Wesleyan women's tennis picked up a 5-2 win over the Bethany Swedes on Saturday at Salina Central High School.

The victory was the 13th straight win for the Coyotes over the Swedes, a streak that dates back to the 2010 season.

The Coyote would win two of the three doubles matches to take the doubles point. At No. 1, Zofia Selwesiuk (SR/Wroclaw, Poland) and Makenzie Archer (JR/McPherson, Kan.) would beat Jahzuena Bradshaw-Douglas and Lexi Neel 6-2; and at No. 3 Avery Soto (FR/Pueblo, Colo.) and Kaitlyn Wrye (FR/Olathe, Kan.) beat Kiara Sweat and Hannah Wolting 6-4. Bethany got a win at No. 2 as Tia Gregory and Piper Marquez beat Michaela Crowe (SO/Overland Park, Kan.) and Eliza Camp (FR/Winfield, Kan.) 6-4.

The Coyotes won four of the six singles matches to earn the match win. At No. 2, Crowe beat Neel 6-0, 6-0. At No. 3 Archer beat Gregory 6-0, 6-2. At No. 4 Camp beat Sweat 6-0, 6-2. At No. 6 Wrye beat Wolting 6-0, 6-0. Bethany got wins at No. 1 as Bradshaw-Douglas beat Selwesiuk 6-4, 6-4; and at No. 5 as Marquez beat 6-2, 6-0.

Wesleyan has a scrimmage match with Seward County on Monday, then returns to Kansas Conference play on Wednesday at Bethel.
