NEW ORLEANS - The Fort Hays State track and field teams are once again listed in the top 25 of this week's USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Indoor National Rating Index, released Tuesday.
The Tiger women are 17th in the country with 44.97 team points while the men are slotted 23rd with 36.68 points.
The women's team has 16 marks ranked in the top 30 in the country, including three in the top 10. Alexandra Hart's school record in the high jump continues to lead the country at 5-9.75. The Tigers also have two relay teams in the top 10, ranking seventh in the 4x400m relay and ninth in the distance medley relay.
The men's team is receiving points from 12 different nationally-ranked performances, including three in the top 10 in DII. Ryan Stanley sits in sixth in the pole vault after clearing 16-7.25, while Matthew Pieper's school-record total of 5,250 (converted) in the heptathlon ranks sixth-best in the country. The Tiger distance medley relay team is ranked eighth.
Both teams held steady in the central region rankings, with the women sitting in sixth and the men coming in eighth.
The organization also released the first set of conference rankings this week, with the women coming in fifth in the MIAA and the men sitting in sixth. The Tiger women have two top marks in the conference - Lyric Holman's time of 7.65 in the 60m dash and Alexandra Hart's school-record mark of 5-9.75 in the high jump. Philip Landrum ranks second in the MIAA in two events, including the 60m dash with a time of 6.86 and in the 200m dash with a converted mark of 21.66.
The Tiger women have five event squads ranked in the top 10 nationally, including the top-ranked high jump group, the third-ranked pentathlon team, the fourth-ranked 800m run squad, the seventh-ranked 60m hurdles group and the eighth-ranked long jump squad.
The men have four event squads ranked in the top 10 in Division II, including the fourth-ranked pole vault group, the fourth-ranked 800m run group, the eighth-ranked high jump and the ninth-ranked long jump.
With just two weeks remaining in the regular season, the Tigers are back in action Saturday at the Ichabod Invitational in Topeka.
