After dispatching the two-time defending state champs in Hillsboro 54-31 on Monday, the Sacred Heart boy's basketball team will turn their attention to the 1-seed in the bracket as they prepare to battle Chase County on Thursday.
The Knights will come into this contest at 12-9 while the Bulldogs enter as the #10 team in Class 2A at 18-3 having bounced Marion 51-46 on Monday.
In order to eliminate a ranked foe and advance to the bracket finals on Saturday, Sacred Heart will need to continue playing with great intensity on defense, something that aided in their quarterfinal victory just a few days ago.
"Chase County presents some length issues and they complement each other well," Knights head coach Brian Gormley said. "We need to be tough around that basket and keep the same level of tenacity on the defensive end that we showed Monday night. "
Meanwhile, in the other bracket semifinal, an all-area battle rages as the 2-seed in Bennington (17-4) squares off with the 3-seed in Ell-Saline (12-8).
Bennington knocked off Northern Heights 71-21 on Monday while the Cardinals bounced Herington 65-36.
Tip-off between the Knights and Bulldogs is set for 7:30 on Thursday at Hillsboro High School with the winner advancing to the final at 5:30 on Saturday.
