A motorcyclist was taken to the hospital Friday night after an accident with a vehicle in south Salina.
James Aumiller,27, of Leigh, was eastbound on Schilling Road near the Interstate 135 overpass where he was driving a black 2017 Harley Davidson Road King motorcycle. At approximately 8:06 p.m. Aumiller failed to see a black 2008 Chevy Silverado in front of him driven by Natalie Cortez, 19, of Salina.
Aumiller subsequently rear-ended the pickup. Salina Police Sergeant Kyle Tonniges said this morning that Aumiller was ejected from the motorcycle and that he was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
"Aumiller was transported by EMS to the hospital with some serious injuries," Tonniges said. "Head injuries that were not life-threatening. But it looks like alcohol was believed to be a factor in this accident and we're still investigating and waiting for some blood tests to come back but it didn't make any arrests."
