KWU women's tennis falls to Southwestern, 7-0

Kansas Wesleyan Women's Tennis dropped its match to Southwestern College on Wednesday at Central High School by a 7-0 score.

Southwestern is receiving votes in the latest NAIA Poll, and is leading the KCAC.

The Coyotes were short handed in the match due to injury and gave up default points at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles to Southwestern.

In the contested doubles matches, Karley Benson (SR/Salina, Kan.) and Eliza Camp (FR/Winfield, Kan.) lost to Catherine Coe and Samantha Loving 6-1 at No. 1; and Michaela Crowe (SO/Overland Park, Kan.) and Kaitlyn Wrye (FR/Olathe, Kan.) lost to Monalisa Chakraborty and Jasmin Hauska 6-2 at No. 2.

Southwestern won all five contested singles matches as well. Chakraborty beat Crowe 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1; Loving beat Benson 6-3, 6-4 at No. 2; Hauska beat Camp 6-0, 6-0; Ella Hartnett beat Avery Soto (FR/Pueblo, Colo.) 6-3, 6-0; and Laura Adey beat Wrye 6-1, 6-1.

The Coyotes are 3-10 overall and 3-5 in the Kansas Conference with one regular season match remaining on Saturday against Ottawa at 11 a.m. at Salina Country Club.
