Kay Yvonne Gibson, 89, died November 29, 2025, at The Cedars Retirement Community in McPherson, Kansas. She was born November 27, 1936, in Minneapolis, Kansas, the youngest of three daughters of Ernest and Ima (Merryfield) Pogue.

After graduating from Minneapolis High School, Kay attended Kansas State Teachers College (now known as Emporia State University), Emporia, Kansas, where she met her first husband, Robert (Bob) Hawk. They were married on June 10, 1956, and were the proud parents of Tacy, Kyle and Troy Hawk.

Through the years, Kay lived in many locations throughout Kansas: Great Bend, Valley Falls, Topeka, Lyndon, Hill City, Montezuma, Beloit, as well as Holdrege, Nebraska, finally settling in Salina, Kansas, with her second husband, Keith (Hoot) Gibson. Following his death, she moved to The Cedars in McPherson, Kansas. She spent many years working in education and secretarial jobs. She loved playing the piano, reading, putting puzzles together, as well as attending her kids and grandkids many sporting and school events.Kay was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother Kenneth Pogue, oldest sister Janice Ferrell, husband Hoot Gibson, daughter Tacy Hawk and infant grandson Axyl Leven. She is survived by two sons, Kyle Hawk and wife Tammy of McPherson, KS, Troy Hawk and wife Carol of Beloit, KS, and adopted daughter Jennifer Leven and husband Willie of Canyon, TX. Kay is also survived by her sister Beverley Woodruff of Minneapolis, KS, 9 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, December 5, at the First Presbyterian Church, Minneapolis. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be given to the First Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis, KS or St. Joseph’s Catholic School in McPherson, KS and may be left in care of Wilson Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467.
