A woman loses over $10,000 after a sweepstakes scam.

According to the Saline County Sheriff's Office, a 67-year old woman reported from the timeframe of May 14- May 22, she was being scammed.

She was contacted via phonecall by a male, who told her she "won a sweepstakes, resulting in winning cash and a brand new car."

The male advised in order for her to receive the prize, she needed to make payments.

The victim then opened up a bank account in her name and provided the account information to the scammer.

It was determined she lost a total of $11,000.
