The Salina Police Department is investigating a Kansas felon on new charges of a chase and arrest.
Just after 6:16 p.m. Thursday, an officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a black 2000 Plymouth Neon in the 800 block of Osage Avenue. The owner of the vehicle, Kyle Montgomery AKA"Kyle Farley", had two Salina Municipal Court warrants and a Saline County felony warrant for his arrest, according to Salina Police Sgt. Kyle Tonniges.
The vehicle failed to stop, initiating a pursuit.
The pursuit lasted approximately five minutes and reached speeds of 70 mph. The suspect traveled south on Ninth Street where he attempted an unsuccessful turn west onto Magnolia Road. In the process, the suspect's Plymouth vehicle struck a blue 2019 Jeep Wrangler that was eastbound on Magnolia.
He fled from the vehicle on foot and ran to Freddy’s, 2420 S. Ninth. Officers chased him and deployed their TASER in an attempt to effect an arrest.
"The TASER was ineffective, but officers were able to arrest Kyle eventually," Tonniges said.
Montgomery is charged with fleeing and eluding, interference with law enforcement, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, damage to property, no proof of insurance, reckless driving, improper driving on a laned roadway, fail to signal, failure to stop at a stop sign, littering, and driving while suspended.
