Richard J. Northam was born June 8, 1937 in Maud, Oklahoma the son of Floyd and Bessie (Gillham) Northam. He passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2024 at the Salina Regional Health Center in Salina.
Following his graduation, Richard received his bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement from Sacramento State University in Sacramento, California.
Richard was a Police Officer for several years and was then a Highway Patrolman for many years before retiring. Following his retirement he was a school bus driver the Abilene School District.
Richard enjoyed riding motorcycles and loved spending time with family especially his grandchildren.
On August 31, 1958 he was united in marriage to Rosa Lee White in Petaluma, California. They spent 66 years together. Rosa survives of the home. Other survivors include his daughters Barbara Reynoso and her husband Boni of Abilene, Betty Halterman and her husband James of Abilene, sons Richard L. Northam of Abilene, Kevin Northam of Abilene, brother Doyle Northam of Branson, Missouri, six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Lowell, sisters Jean Rose, Wilma Kilgore, and his parents.
Memorial services for Richard will be 11:00 am Saturday, October 26, 2024 at the United Brethren in Christ Church (200 S. Kuney) with Pastor Donald Goodwin officiating.
