A local man was arrested early Sunday morning after a pickup he was driving struck a tree in north Salina.
An officer observed and began following a white Chevrolet pickup as it turned from northbound N. Front Street eastbound onto E. Ash Street. As the pickup turned, it went over the curb and into the yard of 617 E. Ash Street, where it struck a tree, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning.
The wreck occurred at approximately 2:10 a.m. Sunday.

The driver was identified as William Sullivan, 42, of Salina. Forrester said Sullivan had obvious signs of impairment and also had two prior convictions for driving under the influence.
Sullivan suffered facial injuries and was taken to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment.
Sullivan was arrested on the following requested charges, Forrester said.
