K-State WBB Travels to Colorado for Saturday Tilt

MANHATTAN, Kansas - (10/8) K-State (19-1, 7-0 Big 12) plays its final road game of January with a trip to Boulder, Colorado, on Saturday to face Colorado (12-6, 3-4) at 2 p.m. (CT).

• K-State has opened this season with an 19-1 record for the second straight season and the second time in program history. With a win Saturday, K-State would achieve the second 20-1 or better start to a season in school history.

• Saturday’s game will air on ESPN+, as Thad Anderson (play-by-play) and Kami Carmann Snyder (analyst) will have the call.

1. We’re Going Streaking!

• K-State owns an active win streak of 14. This is the second straight season (14, Dec. 1, 2023 - Jan. 31, 2024) the Wildcats have recorded a double figure win streak. The 14-game win streak is tied for the second-longest win streak in program history and the fourth-longest active win streak in the nation.

2. Happy Helpers

• K-State features four players with 50 or more assists this season: Serena Sundell (150), Zyanna Walker (90), Jaelyn Glenn (60) and Taryn Sides (53). If Temira Poindexter (41) reaches 50 assists this season, this would mark the fourth time in program history with five or more players with 50 or more assists.

3. Cats Pacing the Nation

• K-State leads the nation in field goal percentage defense (.329), assists per game (23.0) and assisted shot rate (72.4%).

4. Trio of 3-Point Shooters

• The trio of Temira Poindexter (49), Taryn Sides (48) and Jaelyn Glenn (37) are on pace to become the fourth set of K-State teammates and first since 2012-13 to make 50 or more 3-pointers in a season.

5. Sundell Nearing Big 12 Top-10

• With 26 assists, senior guard and All-America candidate Serena Sundell will move into the top-10 in Big 12 history for career assists. Sundell has dished 699 assists in her career and would pass Toccara Williams (Texas A&M, 2001-04; 724).

At a Glance: Colorado

• Colorado (12-6, 3-4 Big 12) looks to shake off a two-game downturn after dropping games at West Virginia and Cincinnati last week. The Buffaloes are 9-1 in the CU Events Center, including a 3-0 record in Big 12 games at home.

• On the sideline, Colorado is led by ninth-year head coach JR Payne. Payne, a 1999 graduate of Saint Mary’s, is 155-109 (.587) in her nine seasons in Boulder and owns a 256-222 (.536) mark in 16 seasons as a head coach.

• On the floor, the Buffaloes are led by a trio of double figure scorers: Frida Formann, Jade Masogayo and Lior Garzon.

• Formann, a grad student from Bagsvaerd, Denmark, leads the team in scoring average (13.6 ppg), three-point field goals made (37) and three-point percentage (.446). She is 10th among active NCAA Division I players for career 3-point field goals made (297).

• Masogayo, a junior forward from Fort Worth, Texas, leads Colorado in points scored (225), field goal percentage (.592) and blocks (20). She is second on the team in rebounds (82; 4.6 rpg).

• Garzon, a grad transfer from Ra’anana, Israel, is third on the team in scoring at 10.9 per game. She is 15th among active NCAA Division I players for career 3-point field goals made (274). Garzon joined the Buffaloes prior to this season after transferring from Oklahoma State.

Wildcats Off to Fast Start

• Kansas State has opened the season with a 19-1 overall record.

• This is the second straight season and equals the best 20-game start for K-State in the Jeff Mittie era.

• In program history, K-State has opened a season 19-1 two times.

Wildcats Build Extended Streak

• K-State has strung together one of the longest winning streaks in program history to boost its overall win total this season.

• The Wildcats’ current 14-game winning streak is tied for the second-longest in program history. This is the fourth-longest active win streak in the nation.

• This is the 11th double-digit winning streak in school history.

• This is the first time since the 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons in which K-State has registered a double-digit win streak in consecutive seasons.

• Last season the Wildcats won 14 consecutive games from Dec. 1, 2023 to Jan. 31, 2024. This was the longest winning streak in the Jeff Mittie era and tied for the second-longest in school history.

• K-State’s nine-game winning streak in Big 12 play last season was the longest conference win streak in the Mittie era and tied for the longest conference win streaks in program history joining the 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons. K-State was the first team since Baylor in 2019-20 to win its first nine Big 12 games.

Wildcats on the Road

• K-State has a 296-325 (.477) record in road games during the program’s 57-year history.

• In his career in road games, head coach Jeff Mittie is 172-205 (.456) including a 47-68 (.409) mark during his time at K-State.

• This season, K-State is 4-0 in road games including one against an AP top-25 foe (22, Utah, 1/8/25).

• In the 2023-24 season, K-State was 6-4 (.600) in road games. The Wildcats opened the season with a five-game road winning streak, which was K-State’s longest since a five-game streak in the 2018-19 season.

• Among its six road wins last season, the Wildcats collected two over AP top-25 opponents (at #2 Iowa; at #13 Baylor).

• K-State’s six road wins were the most by the Wildcats since the 2019-20 season (7-5).

• With its win at then second-ranked Iowa on Nov. 16, 2023, K-State secured its highest ranked road win in program history and ended a 14-game road losing streak against ranked opponents.

Magic Number is 70 Points

• Since the 2014-15 season, K-State is 124-21 (.855) when scoring 70 or more points in a game. The Wildcats have scored 70 or more points in 18 games this season.

• K-State is averaging 83.15 points per game this season to lead the Big 12 and rank 11th in the nation. K-State’s field goal percentage of .507 is second in the nation.

• The Wildcats have scored 90 or more points in a game six times this season, which is the fifth time in program history K-State has scored 90 or more points in six or more games in a season and the first time since 2001-02 (6). The school record for games with 90 or more points came in 1983-84 with eight.

• K-State tallied a season-high 111 points against Milwaukee on Nov. 20. This was the highest single-game point total in the Jeff Mittie era. It was the second-highest single-game point total in program history, trailing the school record of 115 on Dec. 2, 2002, against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

• The Wildcats recorded 110 points against USC Upstate in a 110-24 win on Dec. 5. This is the first time in program history K-State has scored 110 or more points in two or more games in the same season.

• K-State’s margin of victory of 86 against USC Upstate was the largest in program history, surpassing the previous record of 78 on Dec. 2, 2002, against Arkansas-Pine Bluff.

• In its history, K-State has scored 100 or more points in a game 30 times (30-0) including seven times under Mittie.

Three is not a Crowd, It’s a Benefit

• Since 2011-12, when three or more players reach double figures in scoring in the same game, K-State is 192-85 (.693) including a 17-1 record in the 2024-25 season.

• The Wildcats had a season-high six players reach double figures against Milwaukee on Nov. 20.

• The combination of Ayoka Lee and Serena Sundell have scored in double figures in 46 of 76 games played together since 2021-22.

• Lee and Sundell combined to score 52 points in a win over New Mexico State on Dec. 18. This is the third time the duo has combined to score 50 or more points in the same game including the school record of 72 against Oklahoma on Jan. 23, 2022.

Wildcats Solid From the Arc

• K-State has continued to attack from deep in the 2024-25 season.

• For the season, K-State is shooting 39.1 percent (169-of-432) from 3-point range. The Wildcats lead the Big 12 and are fifth in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage and are fourth in the Big 12 for 3-point field goals made. K-State is receiving 30.5 percent of its total points (507 points) from made 3-point field goals this season.

• The Wildcats registered a season-high 13 connections from 3-point range against USC Upstate on Dec. 5 and against Arizona State on Jan. 19.

• K-State made 10 or more 3-pointers in five straight games (Dec. 1-18) for the first time in program history.

• The trio of Temira Poindexter (49), Taryn Sides (48) and Jaelyn Glenn (37) are on pace to become the fourth set of K-State teammates and first since 2012-13 to make 50 or more 3-pointers in a season.

• In the Jeff Mittie era, the Wildcats have made five or more 3-pointers in a game 246 times in 345 total games including 46 games with 10 or more connections (w-l: 40-6) from deep.

• In the 11 seasons under Mittie, K-State has buried 2,143 three-pointers which is 6.21 per game.

• In the 2023-24 season, K-State shot 31.4 percent (218-of-694) from 3-point range. K-State’s 218 made 3-pointers (6.4 per game) represents 26.8 percent of its point total. This was the highest 3-point field goal percentage since 2016-17.

• The 2023-24 Wildcats were the fourth team in program history to have five or more players make 20 or more 3-pointers in a season. When combined with the effort of the 2022-23 season, this marks the first time in program history K-State recorded consecutive seasons with five or more players on the roster making 20 or more 3-pointers in a season.

Poindexter With Points

• Senior Temira Poindexter has sparked K-State offensively since joining the squad this summer after transferring in from Tulsa.

• This season, Poindexter is third on the team in scoring with 12.9 points per game on a .495 field goal percentage, including a .398 three-point percentage. She has recorded a career-high 57.0 percent of her points this season from beyond the arc.

• In Big 12 action, Poindexter leads the Wildcats in scoring at 16.1 points per game on a .553 field goal percentage including a .471 effort from beyond the arc. She ranks 11th in the Big 12 in scoring. She owns six games with 10 or more points including two with 20 or more points.

• At BYU on Jan. 11, the product of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, registered a personal season-high 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting.

• In her collegiate career, Poindexter has tallied 1,818 points (16.1 ppg). A season ago as a Golden Hurricane, Poindexter carded 734 (21.0 ppg) points and ranked seventh in the nation for total points and 16th in the nation for points per game.

Glenn Finds the Range

• Jaelyn Glenn continues to be a perimeter threat for K-State.

• This season, Glenn is 37-of-88 (.420) from 3-point range. She has 12 games with two or more makes. Her 3-point field goal percentage is a new career-high.

• Glenn opened the 2024-25 season with a 4-of-9 effort from long range against Green Bay on Nov. 4. This was her first game with four or more 3-point field goals since Feb. 25, 2023, at West Virginia.

• In her career, Glenn is 192-of-555 (.346) from long range. She has 59 career games with two or more connections from 3-point range including seven games with four or more.

• Glenn ranks eighth on the K-State career 3-point field goals made list and eighth for career 3-point field goals attempted.

• Glenn is the first player in school history with 175 or more 3-point field goals made and 200 or more career steals.

• In the 2023-24 season, the product of Kansas City, Missouri, shot 42-of-133 (.316) from beyond the arc. She had 13 games with two or more connections from long range including a season-high three five times.

• In the 2022-23 season, Glenn shot 71-of-195 (.364) from 3-point range. Her 71 three-point field goals made were a personal single-season high and tied for fourth-most in a sophomore season in program history.

• Glenn was one of 13 sophomores in the nation in the 2022-23 season with 70 or more connections from 3-point range, including one of four in a Power 5 conference.

• Glenn was unique nationally, as she was the only player in NCAA Division I in 2022-23 with 70 or more 3-point field goals made and 90 or more steals.

Sundell 2nd for Career Assists

• Serena Sundell has established herself at the point for K-State with her distribution skills.

• Sundell, a 2024-25 Lieberman Award Watch List member, owns a career assist total of 699 and ranks second on the K-State career list. She is the second player in school history with 600 or more career assists.

• Sundell, a 2023-24 All-Big 12 First Team recipient, ranks second in school history for career assists per game at 5.68. She ranks third in the nation among active NCAA Division I players for career assists and fifth in the nation among active NCAA Division I players for career assists per game.

• She has 82 career games with five or more assists including 10 games with 10 or more assists and a career-high of 13 assists (twice). Her 82 career games with five or more assists ranks second in school history. She ranks third in program history for career games with 10 or more assists.

• Her combined assist total from the 2023-24 (189) and 2024-25 (150) seasons of 339 ranks seventh in program history for most assists over consecutive seasons.

• Her career assist to turnover ratio of 1.84 is second in program history (min. 100 career assists).

• This season, Sundell is averaging a career-high 7.5 assists per game and leads the nation. She leads the nation for total assists (150). She is second in the Big 12 for assist/turnover ratio and ranks 12th in the nation (2.88). In Big 12-only games, Sundell leads the league in assists per game (8.86).

• Against USC Upstate on Dec. 5 and at BYU on Jan. 11, Sundell set a new career-high and tied the school record for assists in a single-game with 13 assists.

• In the 2023-24 season, Sundell averaged 5.56 assists per game (189 assists) and was the Big 12 leader for assists per game and total assists. In league action, Sundell was second in the league at 5.71 assists per game.

• Sundell’s 189 assists last season were a career-high and ranked tied for fifth in program history for assists in a single season. The 2023-24 season marked her third straight with 150 or more assists. She was the first Wildcat since Shalee Lehning (four seasons) and the third overall (Megan Mahoney; three seasons) to hand out 150 or more assists in three or more seasons.

• In the 2022-23 season, Sundell handed out a career-high 184 assists (5.11 apg) including a season-high 10 against Oklahoma State on Jan. 4.

• Sundell was the second player in program history (Shalee Lehning, 368) with 350 or more assists by the conclusion of their sophomore season.
