Georgia man arrested on requested drug charges in I-70 stop

A traffic stop on Interstate 70 (I-70) in Salina Tuesday morning resulted in an arrest on alleged drug charges for a Georgia man.

Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester reported this morning that at 7:25 a.m. Tuesday, an officer stopped a 2014 Nissan Altima at eastbound I-70 milepost 253 for speeding. The officer made contact with the driver of the vehicle and a passenger, Tyler Walton, 22, of Georgia.

During the traffic stop, the Salina Police Department's K-9, Bennie, indicated the presence of illegal narcotics in the vehicle, Forrester explained. During a search of the vehicle, approximately two pounds of raw marijuana, marijuana oils, and marijuana candy were located, he noted.

Walton was arrested on the following requested charges, according to Forrester.

Possession of marijuana with intent to distribute

Possession of drug paraphernalia

No drug tax stamp
