Police are investigating the theft of more than $2,000 worth of cell phones from a south Salina retail store.

Salina Police Detective Sergeant David Villanueva reported this morning that a man went into the electronics department of Walmart, 2900 South Ninth Street, Tuesday at approximately 7:30 p.m. and stole two Samsung Galaxy S10 cell phones. The total value of the two phones was $2,079, he noted.

The suspect was described as being a heavy-set black male wearing a gray t-shirt, black hat, and a mask around his neck, Villanueva explained. The man also appeared to have a beard and glasses, he added.

It is thought that the suspect possibly is the same person who recently has committed like crimes in Great Bend, Hays, and McPherson, Villanueva noted.
