LINDSBORG - Kansas Wesleyan Baseball won its 40th game of the season on Saturday marking the fourth straight season for 40 or more wins as the Coyotes routed the Bethany Swedes 20-5 at Bethany's baseball field.
The Coyotes took a 2-0 lead in the second as Blake Dale reached on a fielder's choice and then scored on Logan Arndt's single. Zac Goldenberg then doubled home Joe Finder to make it 2-0.
Wesleyan put eight on the board in the third inning. Carter Allen led off the inning with an inside-the-park homer. Fernando Ruvalcaba walked, Chris Finocchario singled, Finder and Arndt were both hit by pitches to bring in another run. Goldenberg followed with a 2-run double, Tyler Nordyke followed with a RBI single, Niko Olson brought in a run with a sacrifice fly, Ruvalcaba drove in a run with a hit and Finocchario singled a second time in the inning to bring in another run.
The Coyotes loaded the bases in the fourth and Olson doubled to clear the bases. The Coyotes loaded the bases a second time in the inning and Finocchario walked to force home a run. The final run of the inning came home when Dale struck out but a passed ball allowed the run to score.
Bethany scored four in the bottom of the fourth, but the Coyotes got one in the fifth on a sacrifice fly by Allen after the Coyotes loaded the bases.
Ruvalcaba led off the sixth with a homer and Goldenberg hit a sacrifice fly later in the inning to make it 18-4.
The Swedes scored a run in the sixth, but the Coyotes put two on the board on Isaac Hawthrone's 2-run pinch hit homer.
Goldenberg and Finocchario had three hits each to lead the Coyotes. Three others had two hits each. Olson and Goldenberg drove in four runs each.
Wil Yamka went five innings for the win, striking out six.
