Saline County Rural Fire District #3 (RFD 3) is acquiring new equipment from a grant that is 100% funded by the grantor.
RFD 3 Fire Chief, Scott Abker announced to Saline County Commissioners on Tuesday, about a $45,000 grant they applied for and received from the Gary Sinise Foundation. Through this grant, RFD 3 will receive new equipment that includes new battery operated tools, radios and four sets of bunker gear.
"This is going to be a huge asset for us and we are proud to have this opportunity," said Abker.
Saline County Commissioner, Joe Hay commended RFD 3 and other county agencies on applying for grants.
"Grants take off some of the tax burden off the taxpayers and our people do a really good job of getting many grants as they can get," said Hay.
Saline County is not paying any additional costs for the grant, as the grant is being entirely funded through the Gary Sinise Foundation.
