Kan. woman hospitalized after driver falls asleep on I-70

 GEARY COUNTY—A Kansas woman was injured in an accident just before 9a.m. Tuesday in Geary County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a Toyota Sequoia driven by Tania M. Plunkett, 41, Abilene, was westbound on Interstate 70 two miles east of Junction City.

The driver fell asleep at the wheel.  The SUV drifted into the center median, overturned, traveled across the westbound lanes and came to rest on its top in the north ditch.

EMS transported a passenger Soria Velazquea, 58, Carlton, to the hospital in Junction City. Plunkett was not injured. Both were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
