JEWELL COUNTY - Two earthquakes, including a 4.0 magnitude quake, struck northern Jewell County Sunday morning.

According to the Kansas Geological Survey, a 4.0 magnitude earthquake struck north of the western part of Lovewell Reservior at 7:51 a.m. Sunday. The quake was centered just north of Z Road between Kansas Highway 14 and 200 Road.

A second quake struck 10 minutes later at 8:01 a.m. just south of the Kansas-Nebraska state line. The 2.8 magnitude quake was centered north of Diamond Road about three miles west of Kansas Highway 14.
