A 25-year-old man was found alive after an incident at the Scoular Grain elevator east of Salina Thursday afternoon.

Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said the man, who was not named, was was trying to clear a belt at the bottom of the elevator at 3339 E. Country Club Road. The tool the man was using caught on the belt and the belt pulled him into the feeder where soy beans were pouring in.

Fortunately for the Scoular employee, the belt continued to pull him approximately 60 feet and away from the soy beans, Soldan said. Personnel from the Salina Fire Department were able to rescue him from that area.

The man, who Soldan described as "alert and verbal," was transported by EMS to Salina Regional Health Center to be checked out. Soldan said the man possibly had a broken toe.
