Charles was born on May 30, 1955, in Newton, Kansas. He is the first of six children born to Richard and Thelma “Jeep” (Tallman) Edris.

Charles graduated from Remington High School as the class of 1973. He then went on to play football for Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kansas.

In 1977, Charles began working at Horizon Milling in Newton, Kansas and retired after 43 years of service to the flour mill.

In his free time, Charles enjoyed all things hunting and fishing, but most of all, he loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting events and activities.

Charles’ family includes his partner, Merce Pentz, Wichita, KS; children Tawnya (Josh) Malecki, Hutchinson, KS; Travis Edris, Halstead, KS;  Tiffany (John) Wendling, Halstead, KS; grandchildren MacKenzie Malecki, Nicholas Malecki, Clay Malecki, Peyton Wendling, Jackson Wendling, Leo Wendling; mother Jeep Edris, Whitewater, KS; siblings Harry Edris, Whitewater, KS;  Dennis Edris, Whitewater, KS; Bruce (Nanette) Edris, Whitewater, KS; Sue (Raymond) Archer, Whitewater, KS;  Tina Edris Macy, Goddard, KS; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Charles, at the age of 67, passed away on November 20, 2022, at his home in Wichita, Kansas, surrounded by his loving family.

He is preceded in death by his father Richard Edris; grandparents Charles and Violet (Moore) Tallman; Charles and Emma (Brockway) Edris.

Charles’ family will gather to greet friends on Sunday, November 27, 2022, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Lamb Funeral Home, Whitewater, Kansas, and a funeral service for Charles will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 28, 2022, at Federated Church Whitewater, Kansas. Burial to follow at Whitewater Cemetery. Services will be led by Pastor Jason Lowery.

Memorial contributions in Charles’ name may be directed to the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks.
