It's going to be another hot one throughout the area

Forecast high temperatures today will be similar to yesterday, the National Weather Service (NWS) is reporting.

Additionally, a heat advisory has been issued for some counties in our area.

NWS is Topeka has issued a heat advisory in effect from 1-8 p.m. Sunday for the following counties in our area.

Clay County

Dickinson County

Ottawa County

Peak heat index values of 104 to 110 are expected, NWS noted.

Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur.

Drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances.

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
