
Janette T. Zuendel, a remarkable woman whose presence touched the lives of many, found eternal peace on January 11, 2025 at the age of 96. Born as Janette Thille on February 20, 1928, she navigated through life with a spirit that radiated warmth and kindness. Her journey was marked by an unwavering devotion to her family and a sense of duty in her career.
Janette dedicated 37 years of her life to public service with the federal government, culminating in her role as Contract Operation Branch Chief. Her professional accomplishments were a testament to her steadfast commitment to her work and her exceptional professionalism, which earned her respect and admiration from colleagues and friends alike.
Above all, Janette cherished the beautiful relationships she cultivated with her family. She was the beloved daughter of Fred and Geneva (Baird) Thille. As a mother, she lovingly supported her daughter, Michelle, through every success and challenge. Janette taught Michelle how to navigate life’s obstacles, instilling in her the values of resilience and faith. Their incredible bond was complemented by her love for her son-in-law, Daniel and her grandchildren, Matthew and Laura Howe, who brought immense joy to her life.
Janette's timeless wisdom extended to her sister Neva Claire (Thille) Smith, from whom she drew strength and comfort throughout their journey together. In addition to her immediate family, she leaves behind a legacy of love that flourishes through her 12 nieces and nephews and a community of wonderful friends, with whom she shared lots of laughter and at times tears.
Nature was a canvas upon which Janette painted many cherished memories. She found solace in the beauty of the great outdoors, particularly during hikes in Yellowstone, where at times she encountered heart-shaped rocks. To her, these stones were divine reminders of her unique place in the world, affirming her belief of God’s immense love for us. Each day, she prayed with confidence, knowing that God understood her struggles and provided mercy and grace to help in her every need.
Throughout her 35,391 days on this Earth, Janette demonstrated what it meant to live fully and selflessly. Her remarkable spirit, compassion for others, and joyful laughter will echo in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
Janette T. Zuendel will forever be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, whose legacy of love, grace and kindness continues to inspire all of us.
A Mass in memory of Janette will be held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Beloit, Kansas, starting at 10:00 AM. Inurnment will follow at St. John's Cemetery.
