WICHITA, Kan. - Chihiro Iwata of Kansas Wesleyan University has earned the KCAC Flag Football Offensive Player of the Week honor, the conference office announced Monday. Student-athletes were selected for their performances from March 24-30 by a vote of conference sports information directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by Equity Bank.
Iwata was phenomenal for the Coyotes in two blowout wins, 57-0 over Bethel and 46-0 over Graceland.
Against Bethel, Iwata was 10-of-11 for 125 yards and five touchdowns. She also ran once for 10 yards. KWU started its drives on average at the Bethel 27 yard line, so there just wasn't yards to gain in the game.
Against Graceland, she was 24-of-31 passing for 269 yards and six touchdowns and she rushed four times for 21 yards. For the week, she was 34-of-42 for 394 yards and 11 touchdowns, completing 81 percent of her passes. She also had five rushes for 31 yards on the week.
This marks the second time this season Iwata has been named the KCAC Women's Flag Football Offensive Player of the Week.
