John W. Rush, 76, Minneapolis, died Friday, May 5, 2023, in Minneapolis. John was born February 22, 1947, in Bozeman, MT to Albert and Josephine Rush.
When John was in grade school, he moved to Longford, KS to live with his aunt and uncle, Ida and Forrest Rush. After high school graduation, he served as a captain of a PT boat in the United States Navy while serving in Vietnam. He then returned to Minneapolis and became Chief of Police and was instrumental in starting the ambulance service. John later went to work for Union Pacific Railroad and retired from Kyle Railroad.
Survivors are his stepchildren, Sherry Gudenhauf, Lisa and Doug Lee, and Buddy Hess and Amber Barnett; and six step-grandchildren, Blake, Devon, Karsyn, Riley, Dawson, and Dax.
Graveside services will be at 3:00 P.M., Friday, May 12, at Highland Cemetery, Minneapolis. Memorials may be made to the Minneapolis E.M.S. or Minneapolis Health and Rehabilitation Center and may be left in care of Wilson Family Funeral Home, P.O. Box 166, Minneapolis, KS 67467.
