Saturday, March 12
Salina Central 38, St. Thomas Aquinas 52
The Salina Central girls basketball team came up just one game short of a perfect season, falling to St. Thomas Aquinas in the 5A state championship game by a final score of 52-38. The Lady Mustangs record-setting season comes to an end at 24-1 while the Saints claim a sixth straight title.
Solomon 54, Macksville 66
The Solomon boys basketball team battled back from an early deficit but came up short in the third-place game against Macksville on Saturday. Solomon's incredible season and first-ever state tournament appearance comes to a close at 17-9 while the Macksville wraps up their year at 23-3
Southeast of Saline 57, Hays TMP 44
The Southeast of Saline boys basketball team capped off a phenomenal season with a 57-44 win over Hays TMP to claim a program-best third-place finish at state. The Monarchs season comes to an end at 20-6 while the Trojans wrap up an incredible seniorless campaign at 22-4.
Friday, March 11
Salina Central 68, Lansing 37
The Salina Central girls basketball team continues to run through the state and is one win away from the first state title in program history after a 68-37 decimation of Lansing in the state semis on Friday. The Lady Lions season comes to an end at 20-4 while the Mustangs are on to the state championship game to face St. Thomas Aquinas at 6:15.
Solomon 46, South Gray 79
The Solomon boys basketball team ran out of magic in the state semifinal on Friday, falling to South Gray 46-79. The Gorillas will take on Macksville in the third-place game at noon on Saturday while South Gray takes on Olpe in a rematch of last year's final.
Southeast of Saline 52, Royal Valley 60
The Southeast of Saline boys basketball team made a late push but couldn't overcome the 1-seed in the state semifinals, falling to Royal Valley 60-52. The Trojans will play Hays TMP in the third-place game at noon on Saturday while the Panthers face the winner for the 3A state title.
Thursday, March 10
Abilene 40, Miege 70
The Abilene Cowboys were defeated by #2 Bishop-Meige in the state quarterfinal on Thursday by a final score of 70-40. The Cowboys will conclude their campaign at 16-7 while Miege advances to the state semis to take on Topeka-Hayden.
Salina Central 69, De Soto 34
The Salina Central girls basketball team continued their pursuit of the first state title in program history by steamrolling 8-seeded De Soto in a 69-34 quarterfinal win. The Wildcats season comes to a close at 15-8 while the Lady Stangs remain undefeated, advancing to the final four to play Lansing at 23-0.
Southeast of Saline 37, Goodland 38
The Southeast of Saline girls basketball team battled hard, but couldn't stave off a comeback from 4-seeded Goodland, falling in their first loss since January 37-38. The Lady Trojans season comes to an end at 20-4 while the Cowgirls advance to face 23-1 Silver Lake in the semifinal on Friday.
Wednesday, March 9
Solomon 45, Norwich 43
The Solomon boys basketball team pulled off a second shock upset in the last week, this time over 2-seeded Norwich in the state quarterfinal 45-43. The Eagle's season comes to an end at 22-2 while the Gorillas are on to face South Gray (21-2) or Ness City (18-5) in the state semis on Friday.
Southeast of Saline 62, Osage City 53
The Southeast of Saline boys basketball team started their state tournament run with a statement, knocking off Osage City 62-53 in the quarterfinal. The Indians season comes to an end at 20-4 while the Trojans advance to take on the #1 team in Class 3A in the top seed in the tournament in 23-1 Royal Valley on Friday.
