The Southeast of Saline Lady Trojans basketball team (1-3) will host the Rossville Lady Bulldogs (1-1) tonight at 6pm.
Rossville has only been able to play in two of its regularly scheduled games this season, and with Abilene cancelling its game with Southeast on Tuesday the two worked out a way to get back on the hardwood again before winter break.
“I’m glad they’re coming up here,” SES head coach Shauna Smith said. “It’s great to get another game in and it should be a competitive game.”
While the Bulldogs have only played in two games this year, there is a common opponent with which to measure how they stack up against the Trojans.
Both teams have played Sacred Heart this season, with Southeast winning their bout with the Knights 52-36, while Rossville fell 48-39.
Regardless of who the Lady Trojans would face on Friday, any game in 2020 is a good one to have on the schedule.
“To be honest at this point we really don’t care who or when we play, we just want to play,” Smith said.
With just a two game sample size for Rossville, and a lack of history between these two teams, things could get interesting tonight as they try to feel each other out.
“It’s nice to play a team that doesn’t already know everything you do already,” she said. “They have some good guards coming in but we’re really going to have to defend the post as well.”
This will be the final game of the 2020 portion of the season before the state moratorium on high school athletics. The Trojans and Lady Trojans will return to play on January 8th against the Minneapolis Lions.
Tipoff for tonight's game will be at 6pm from Southeast of Saline High School. As always SES Lady Trojan basketball can be heard on KINA (910 AM/107.5 FM).
