A familiar face is returning to the links for the Kansas Wesleyan Coyotes. Wes Lawhorn will be the next head women's and men's golf coach as announced by KWU Athletic Director Miguel Paredes.

"I am glad to announce that Wes will be rejoining the Coyote family," Paredes said. "When Wes came to us about the position, I knew he would be a great fit. Being here before, gives us continued stability within the program with the student-athletes seeing a familiar face. Wes knows the athletes and the athletes know him."

Lawhorn was an assistant coach for the KWU golf teams for the 2023-24 season before taking over as Director of Golf at Salina Country Club.

"I am truly honored to accept the position of Head Women's and Men's Golf Coach at Kansas Wesleyan University. This is an incredible opportunity, and I am excited to lead such a successful and respected program. I look forward to working with our student-athletes to help them excel both on and off the course," Lawhorn said.

"I want to give a special thank you to Athletic Director Miguel Paredes and the entire Kansas Wesleyan leadership team for this incredible opportunity. I look forward to contributing to the continued success of the university and the golf program.

"I would also like to express my gratitude to Coleman Houk for his outstanding leadership in shaping the KWU Golf Program into one of the best NAIA programs in the country. His efforts have set a high standard, and I am eager to build upon his remarkable legacy."

Lawhorn will also remain in his role with Salina Country Club. SCC is the home course for the KWU golf teams.

Originally from Copan, Okla., Wes Lawhorn is a graduate of Tyro Community Christian School in Tyro, Kan. He attended Southwestern Christian University in Bethany, Oklahoma where he was a member of the Men's Golf program for three seasons.
