
Catalina Magallanes, age 94, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on September 27, 2025. She was born on April 30, 1931 in Abrego, Zacatecas, Mexico. She lived a long life devoted to her family, faith, and community.
Catalina was a faithful woman whose greatest joy was caring for her loved ones. She was married to Ascension Rodriguez until his passing on February 8, 2002. Together, they built a loving family, raising 13 children.
She was preceded in death by her parents Alvino and Antonia Magallanes, her husband Ascension and sons Jose Manuel and Ramon Rodriguez.She was survived by 11 children: Sara (Santiago) Montoya, Irma (Eliseo) Alvarado of Mexico, Salavador (Socorro) Rodriguez, Maria L Rodriguez, Maria C Rodriguez, Aurelia Rodriguez, Raquel (Raul) Picazo, Celia (Baltazar) Panuco, Betty (Erasmo) Jasso, Miguel (Maria) Rodriguez, Hector (Sara) Rodriguez of Salina Kansas. She was preceded in death by her parents Alvino and Antonia Magallanes, her husband Ascension and sons Jose Manuel and Ramon Rodriguez. She had 34 grandchildren, 48 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
She was a devoted follower of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, faithfully praying the novena each month for more than 52 years. Catalina deeply cherished the visits of her family, enjoying every moment she shared with them. In her free time, she loved knitting, tending to her garden, and enjoying ice cream with loved ones.
In the later years of her life, Catalina dedicated most of her time to prayer, not only for her family, but also for the needs of the Church and the entire world. Her warmth, strength, and generosity touched everyone who knew her.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, care, and faith that will be remembered and cherished by her family.
Visitation will take place at the Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home on Thursday, October 2 from 4-7 p.m. A Rosary service will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral at 6 pm on Friday, October 3. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday, October 4 at 10 am at Sacred Heart Cathedral. Catalina will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband at Mount Calvary cemetery.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all who supported and prayed for Catalina in her final days.
