Sister Marilyn Stahl died June 26, 2025 at Nazareth Motherhouse in Concordia, KS.  She was 84 years old and a Sister of St. Joseph for 65 years.  She was born in Plainville, KS on February 10, 1941 to Bernard and Grace Bisset Stahl, the second of nine children, and was baptized Marilyn.  She entered the Sisters of St. Joseph, Concordia, Kansas on February 2, 1959.  On August 15, 1959, Marilyn received the habit of the Sisters of St. Joseph and was given the name Sister Joseph Raphael, later returning to her baptismal name.  She pronounced first vows on August 15, 1960 and final vows on August 15, 1963.

Sister Marilyn received her BA in history from Marymount College in 1967 followed by a MA in history from Indiana University in 1969.  Marilyn taught history at Marymount College until 1982.  From there she moved to Washington, DC and then to New York to follow her passion for social justice and to live with the Sisters of the Presentation.  In 2004 she returned to Wichita, KS where she worked for the Diocese of Wichita and did volunteer work.  In 2017 Sister Marilyn retired to the Motherhouse in Concordia, KS

Sister Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers.  She is survived by four sisters.  A Bible Vigil Service will be held July 7 at 9:30 a.m. in the Nazareth Motherhouse Chapel with Sister Marilyn Wall as the eulogist.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be July 7 at 10:30 a.m. in the Motherhouse Chapel with Rev.
