The Southeast of Saline defense proved to be the difference in this game, rising to the occasion and holding Hillsboro to two late touchdowns and only 159 yards of total offense in a 52-16 victory over Hillsboro.

The Southeast offense continued to roll, racking up 518 yards of total offense and scoring at least one touchdown in every quarter.

Grady Gebhardt and Amarion Holub led the charge with two touchdowns apiece.

Tiernan Ptacek completed 8 of 10 passes for 125 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 1 interception.

Gebhardt led the ground game with 154 yards and 2 touchdowns on 18 carries, while Holub led in the receiving department with 64 yards and a touchdown on 4 receptions.

“I think as a team we played good defense tonight,” SES head coach Mitch Gebhardt said. “Their run game is very good, and I thought our kids did a good job with that. We knew they’d throw the ball some on us too, and I felt that our D-Backs did a good job of playing fast and physical, and that’s what we wanted them to do.

Southeast climbs to 6-0 (2-0 in district), and will travel to Halstead next week, as Hillsboro evens their record at 3-3 (1-1), and will host Lyons next Friday.
