January 19, 1949 - February 25, 2022

Bernard “Bernie” Omer Bieker, age 73, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022 at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia, KS.  He was born on January 19, 1949 in Cheyenne Wells, CO to Julius Omer and Marie Marcella (Forgue) Bieker.

He graduated from Notre Dame Catholic High School, Concordia.  He then attended Brown Mackie in Salina and seminary for some time in Victoria.  He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1971 to 1975.

He was a computer programmer for most of his life in Colorado until returning to Concordia to care for his mother and has been a resident for the past 12 years.  He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, Concordia.  Bernie was an avid genealogy researcher and enjoyed keeping the family history together and current.

He is survived by his longtime partner Janice Henshaw, Concordia; son Andy (Megan), Boise, ID; daughter Julie Bieker Adams (Jason), Meridian, ID; brothers Lawrence (Cathy), Pittsburg, KS, Richard (Diane), James (Cathy), Anthony (Mary), Thomas (Crystal Wilson), all of Concordia and Dale (Kim), Benton, AR; sisters Elizabeth Deneke (Mike), Amarillo, TX, Margaret Colgrove (Dwight), Washington, KS and Kathleen Schmidt (Russ), Concordia; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded by his parents, infant brother Theodore; sister in law Cathy Bieker and a nephew, Brian Deneke.

It was Bernie’s wishes to be cremated and memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2022 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia with Fr. David Metz officiating.  Friends may sign the register book from 1-8 p.m. with a rosary service at 6 p.m., Thursday, March 3, 2022 all at the funeral home. 

The family suggests memorials to the Cloud County Genealogical Society in care of the funeral home.
