Larry D. Bowman, age 70, of rural Agenda, Kansas passed away Saturday, September 12, 2020 at his residence on the farm in Agenda, Kansas. He was born June 8, 1950, in Concordia, Kansas to Loren and Wanda (Hicks) Bowman.
Larry graduated from Hillcrest High School, Cuba, Kansas in 1968. Larry learned his love for music in the 8th grade when he received his first guitar from his parents. Larry attended Cloud County Community College.
On July 12, 1975, he was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Demel in Hoisington, Kansas and recently celebrating 45 years of marriage.
Loren asked Larry to moved back home to farm and has been involved in farming and ranching in the Agenda community since 1977.
He was a member of the St. Isidore Catholic Church, Agenda Fire Department. He MC’d the Clifton Vining Music Festival for many years. Larry also took care of the Hollis Cemetery as the cemetery sexton. He was involved in the Red Coats Traveling Band and Good News Gospel Group.
Larry loved his family, neighbors and had many friends. Larry never met a stranger and had a gift to gab. He truly enjoyed his love for music playing for many events, nursing homes and was active in the St. Isidore Catholic Church providing music for Mass.
He is survived by his wife Mary Bowman, Agenda, KS.; Shelly Hays (Dean), Pensacola, FL; daughter, Sarah Chavey (Lucas), Concordia, KS; son, Christopher Bowman (Jennifer), Manhattan, KS; his father, Loren Bowman, Clyde, KS.; brothers, Marc Bowman (Paulette), Topeka, KS; Douglas Bowman (Liz), Montrose, CO; sister, Peggy Feldt (Dan), Derby, KS; a brother, Steve Bowman (Nikki), Riley, KS.; 7 grandchildren, Cassandra, Dominic, Belle, Brigham, Boedy, Mila, Miles.
He was preceded in death by his mother Wanda.
Cremation has taken place and a graveside memorial service will be held at 10:00 am, Thursday, September 17, 2020 at Hollis Cemetery, with Fr. David Metz officiating.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary Service held at 6:00 p.m. all at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia, Kansas with Fr. David Metz leading the Rosary. Family will receive friends after the Rosary Service.
