KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas Wesleyan University is ranked No. 20 in the preseason NAIA Football Top 25 Coaches preseason poll as released by the NAIA National Office on Monday.

The Coyotes are coming off an 8-3 season in 2022, and were picked to win the newly formed Bissell Division in the KCAC Preseason Poll conducted earlier this month.

The Coyotes open the season on Saturday at Evangel.

Reigning NAIA National Champions Northwestern (Iowa) leads the pack in the preseason NAIA Football Coaches' Top 25 presented by FirstDown PlayBook, receiving 17 first-place votes. Last year's runner-up Keiser (Fla.) takes the final vote and sits second, followed by Grand View (Iowa), Morningside (Iowa), and Indiana Wesleyan.

Ranking Methodology
The ranking was voted upon by a panel of head coaches representing each of the conferences.
Each conference is given one rater for every four schools in the league or division.

The Top 25 is determined by a points system based on how each voter ranks the best teams. A team receives 25 points for each first-place vote, 24 for second-place and so on through the list.

The highest and lowest ranking for each team (a non-rating is considered a low rating) is removed and the team's ranking will be recalculated with an additional point added to each team for every ballot (including discounted ballots) that the teams appear on.
