USD 240 hires Central assistant as new Bennington principal

BENNINGTON - Twin Valley USD 240 announced today the hiring of Clay Mettlen as the new principal for Bennington Junior High-High School.

Mettlen currently is an assistant principal at Salina High School Central. He is scheduled to begin his duties with USD 240 on July 1.

Mettlen will bring to his new position 15 year of education experience, including administration, activities director, classroom teacher, and coaching basketball, football, softball, track, and baseball.

Prior working at Salina Central, Mettlen served as assistant principal and activities director at Prairie View High School, and activities director at Quivira Heights High School. His classroom experience includes teaching high school social studies at Republic County, Central Plains, and Quivira Heights.

"The Board feels he was the best candidate and fully qualified to lead the 7-12 building," USD 240 note in a news release on its website.

Mettlen earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Doane College (now Doane University) in Nebraska and a Master of Science degree in educational administration from Emporia State University.
