LINDSBORG - The Lindsborg Old Mill & Swedish Heritage Museum will host its annual Old-Fashioned Christmas with holiday merriment for all ages.
The event is scheduled for 5:30-8 p.m. Saturday.
Activities taking place in the lantern-lit Heritage Square village include live entertainment in the Swedish Pavilion, theatrics by the Smoky Valley High School Drama team, a Holiday Bake Sale by the ladies of Freemount Lutheran Church, and children's crafts in the West Kentuck Schoolhouse.
On the other side of the street, the museum and gift shop are open all evening, featuring visits and photos with Santa, cookie decorating for kids and guided Old Mill tours every 20 to 30 minutes.
"Our staff has worked hard to bring this beloved event back for everyone to enjoy," said Executive Director Kay Quinn. " Lenora Lynam has coordinated all of the entertainment and skilled volunteers, while Jim Malm has decorated every inch of our property, including preparing 80 kerosene lanterns, so that guests can enjoy this magical night by lantern light, in the historic heart of Lindsborg."
The schedule of live entertainment in the Swedish Pavilion for the Saturday event is as follows.
5:30 p.m. Formal Flutes
6 p.m. SVHS Madrigals
6:30 p.m. Mennonite Chorus
7 p.m. Men In Harmony
7:30 p.m. Smoky Valley Men’s Choir
Additionally, John Presley as The Shepherd will share stories in the livery stable at 5:30, 6, 6:30, and 7 p.m. The Smoky Valley High School Drama Team will present “Christmas on the Prairie” at 5:30, 6:30, 7:00 and 7:30 p.m. in the Depot. In the nearby County Courthouse, the Bake Sale runs 5:15-8:15 p.m., cash only.
Admission is by donation, suggested at $5 for adults and $2 for children aged 6 to 12, with all activities included. The museum, gift shop, Old Mill first floor and Heritage Square buildings are fully accessible. Free parking is available on Mill Street and First Street. Enter through the main museum and the Heritage Square front gate only.
