NWS also issues wind advisories for some counties in area

In addition to the red flag warnings issued for much of our area today, the National Weather Service (NWS) also has issued several wind advisories for counties in our area.

NWS in Wichita has issued a wind advisory in effect from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday for Ellsworth County.

South winds of 25 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph are expected.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle.

Additionally, NWS in Wichita has issued a wind advisory in effect from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday for the following counties in our area.

Marion County

McPherson County

Saline County

South winds of 30 mph with gusts of 45 to 50 mph are expected.

Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle.

NWS in Topeka has issued a wind advisory in effect from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. for Dickinson County.

South winds of 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph are expected.

Winds will rapidly increase during the mid-morning and remain strong through the daytime hours, decreasing by the evening.
