Police: Salina man accused for leaving two children inside vehicle for over 40 minutes

Salina man accused for leaving a toddler and an infant inside a vehicle for over 40 minutes.

According to the Salina Police Department (SPD) on April 24 at 12:26 pm, officers responded to the Salina Public Library (301 W. Elm) for the report of two children left inside a running vehicle.

A concerned citizen called and reported to police, they had entered the library at about noon and noticed two young children left alone in a running vehicle.

The two children were identified as a 2-year-old and a 9-month-old.

Moreover, the 2-year-old was crying when the officers made arrived.

Officers had the library make a public announcement about who the owner of the vehicle is.

Then at about 12:39 pm, a male exited the library and identified himself as the father, Miguel Martinez (41) of Salina.

It was determined that the children were left in the vehicle for about 48 minutes, according to SPD.

Martinez was then taken into custody and booked into the Saline County Jail for the requested charges of Aggravated Endangerment of a Child (2).

The children were released to their mother.
