A 73-year-old motorcyclist was transported to Salina Regional Health Center (SRHC) early Thursday afternoon after colliding with a pickup just south of Salina.
A 1996 Chevrolet 1500 pickup driven by Ronald Ferson, 56, of Salina, and a 2012 Harley-Davidson Street Glide driven by Donald Garris, 73, of Salina, were both southbound on Old Highway 81 shortly before 1 p.m. Thursday when the accident occurred, Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said this morning.

Ferson was turning left onto Farrelly Road when Garris attempted to pass him, Soldan said. The motorcycle struck the pickup between the driver's side door and the back wheel, causing disabling front-end damage to the motorcycle, he said.
Garris, who was wearing a helmet, was confused and did not remember the accident, Soldan said. Garris was transported by EMS to Salina Regional Health Center, he said. Ferson was not injured, Soldan added.
Although damaged, the pickup was able to be driven from the scene, while the motorcycle was taken from the scene by a wrecker service, Soldan said.
According to Soldan, no citations have been issued at this time and the investigation into the collision continues.
