Rebecca "Becky" Lynn Krahl, born on December 1, 1958, in Hays, Kansas, passed away on December 22, 2024, in Salina, Kansas, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 66 years old.

Becky was the beloved daughter of Zane and Frances Krahl, who preceded her in death. She is survived by her siblings: sister Julie and brothers Rod, Todd (Sherry), and Jeff (Lynda). She was a cherished aunt to her nephews Devin (Carissa) and Taylor (Clancy) Krahl and nieces Kylie (Dustin) Pestinger and Paige Brown. Becky also delighted in being a great-aunt to three great-nieces and three great-nephews.

A lifelong learner with an exceptional intellect, Becky earned her Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Nebraska after attending Fort Hays State University and Oklahoma State University, graduating in the top 10% of her class. Her academic achievements were a source of pride for her family, solidifying her reputation as the "smartest in the family."  She received many awards throughout both her educational and professional careers.

Becky’s professional life included working at UMB in Salina and the Topeka Capitol Building as a fiscal analysis for senator Bob Bethell. Becky returned to Salina in 2009 to tend to her mother, and served as an accountant at OCCK.  Known for her generosity and thoughtfulness, she often brought homemade treats to share with colleagues and never missed an opportunity to bring her great-nieces and nephews a “surprise” gift.

An active member of the community and St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish; Becky was a part of Salina JC’s, coordinating the annual Skyfire 4th of July show for many years.  Becky’s kindness and warmth touched many lives. She was deeply loved by those who knew her and will be remembered as the best daughter, sister, and aunt anyone could ask for.

May Becky’s memory bring comfort to all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. with vigil at 6 p.m. Thursday, December 26, at Ryan Mortuary.  Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday, December 27, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, 1000 Burr Oak Lane, with Fr. Keith Weber as celebrant.  Inurnment will follow in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
