A motorcyclist was injured in a crash near the intersection of Hedville and Satanta Roads in rural Saline County on Sunday afternoon.

According to Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan, the crash happened around 12:45 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18.

"The motorcycle was going west on Satanta and turned south onto Hedville. When they turned south, about 180 feet south of the intersection, the motorcycle came off and started weaving, lost control, and crashed on the roadway itself, " Soldan said.

The motorcyclist, identified as 58-year-old Roger Haselhorst, was wearing a helmet, but sustained a significant cut on one of his arms and was transported by EMS to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment.

Haselhorst's black 2001 Triumph motorcycle sustained minor damage.

Soldan said deputies believe that alcohol may have been a factor in the crash. A blood sample was taken from Haselhorst at the hospital and shipped to the KBI for testing.

"They are investigating alcohol testing, suspected DUI," Soldan said. "We'll wait for the results, should take six to eight weeks."

The investigation is ongoing. Salina Post will update this story as new information becomes available.
