HITCHENS RECORDS SACK: LB Anthony Hitchens recorded a two-yard sack of Cardinals QB Kyler Murray in the game’s first quarter. Hitchens finished the game with one solo tackle for loss to go along with the sack. Hitchens owns 5.5 career sacks in the regular season (-57.0 yards).

JONES RECORDS SACK-STRIP: DL Chris Jones recorded a sack-and-strip of Arizona QB Kyler Murray in the first quarter of tonight’s game, dropping the quarterback for an 11-yard loss. Jones finished the game with two solo tackles, one pass defensed and one QB pressure to go with the sack and forced fumble. Jones owns 40.5 career sacks in the regular season (-286.0 yards) as well as nine career forced fumbles.

THOMPSON RUNS WILD: Chiefs RB Darwin Thompson ran for 49 yards on eight attempts, averaging 6.1 yards a carry, also adding two catches for seven yards in the Chiefs 17-10 win over the Arizona Cardinals. Thompson has 225 total rush yards and two rushing touchdowns along with 108 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown in his career.

DEFENSE COMES OUT STOUT IN 1ST QUARTER: The Chiefs defense forced three straight three-and-outs to start the game with Cardinals QB Kyler Murray playing in the first three series. Kansas City’s defense allowed zero total net yards through the Arizona’s first three drives, adding three tackles for a loss, including 2.0 sacks for a total of -12 yards.

REED TAKES DOWN MCCOY: DT Jarran Reed sacked Arizona QB Colt McCoy for a one-yard loss in the second quarter of tonight’s game. Reed finished the game with one solo tackle for loss to go with the sack and one quarterback pressure. Reed owns 22.0 career sacks in the regular season (-139.0 yards).

HARDMAN HAULS IN TOUCHDOWN: WR Mecole Hardman caught a 17-yard touchdown pass from QB Chad Henne to give the Chiefs the 10-0 lead with less than two minutes to play in the game’s first quarter. Hardman finished the night with four receptions for 39 yards to go with his touchdown.

HENNE AND PRINGLE CONNECT ON LONG PASS: QB Chad Henne threw a 41-yard pass to WR Byron Pringle with less than two minutes left, setting up the game’s first touchdown. Pringle finished the game with four receptions and a team-high 63 receiving yards. Henne completed 6-of-8 passes for 82 yards with the touchdown.

THORNHILL CREATES TURNOVER TO THWART SCORING OPPORTUNITY: S Juan Thornhill intercepted an Arizona QB Colt McCoy pass in the end zone with less than a minute to play in the first half, stopping a potential Cardinals scoring drive. Thornhill owns four career interceptions in the regular season, returning them for 66 total yards and one touchdown. He finished the game with two tackles (one solo) to go with one pass defensed and the interception.

BOOTLE REGISTERS QUARTERBACK TAKEDOWN: Rookie DB Dicaprio Bootle recorded a 10-yard sack of Arizona QB Chris Streveler in the fourth quarter of today’s game. It marked the team’s fifth sack of the game. Bootle finished the game with two solo tackles, including one for a loss and a QB pressure to go with the sack.

BUECHELE RACKS UP YARDS, THROWS TOUCHDOWN: Rookie QB Shane Buechele completed 9-of-11 passes for a team-high 115 yards with a touchdown in today’s game.

GORE LEADS TEAM IN RUSHING: RB Derrick Gore registered eight carries for a game-high 54 yards.

FOUNTAIN MAKES MOST OF HIS RECEPTIONS: WR Daurice Fountain was targeted three times in tonight’s game, catching all three passes for 54 yards (18.0 avg.), including a 41-yard grab. His 41-yard reception tied teammate Byron Pringle for the game’s longest reception.

OFFENSIVE LINE KEEPS THE QUARTERBACKS CLEAN: The Chiefs did not allow a single sack in tonight’s game.
