
SALINE COUNTY—One person was injured and another arrested following an accident that occurred just after 8:30p.m. Sunday in Saline County.
The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2010 Dodge Ram 1500 driven by Sean S. Schuff, 39, Salina, was northbound on College Avenue turning left onto Spruce Street. The driver failed to yield the right of way to Salina Police Department 2024 Ford Explorer driven by Officer Mathew K. Pfannenstiel, 30, Salina. The SUV collided with the pickup. During the collision, a tire came off the pickup and struck a 2017 Ram 4 driven by Paradise K. Roberts, 30, Snellville, Georgia.
EMS transported Pfannenstiel to Salina Regional Medical Center. The other drivers were not injured. Police arrested Schuff and booked him into the Saline County Jail on requested charges of DUI;1st; incapable of safely driving;child present, according to online jail records.
All three drivers were properly restrained, according to the KHP. Pfannenstiel joined the Salina police department in October 2025, according to the department's social media page.
