Mary Florence Vaupel, 92, passed away on June 04, 2024 at Village Manor in Abilene, KS.
Mary was born on November 23, 1931 in Lincoln County, KS to parents Harold Emery and Ruby Gladys Bennett Stone.
While growing up, Mary enjoyed Girl Scouts, playing the piano as well as the violin and being a drum majorette in High School. The fall after graduating from Solomon High School, she married her high school sweetheart upon his return from the Navy. He rode in on the Solomon train, walked to her house and proposed. The two were married a month later in Solomon and then began their new life on his family farm where they also raised their two children, Mary also belonged to EHU and worked as an excellent school cook at the New Cambria Grade School. Mary also served on the New Cambria School Board, the Solomon School board and was on the Board of Directors at the YWCA. After moving to Salina, she joined the Salina Municipal Women’s Golf Club (she even hit a HOLE IN ONE in Mesa, Arizona). Mary enjoyed winters at their home in Arizona. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing, helping with 4H projects, painting, crafts, and spending time with her family as it grew. She loved singing songs and always had a fun story to tell (along with a riddle).

Mary is survived by her Children and families Debby Reinbold and spouse Mike of New Cambria, KS, David Vaupel and spouse Bonnie of Salina, KS; Others: Norma Stone (Sister-in-Law) , Darren Vaupel (Grandson) , Janette Parker (Granddaughter) , Pamela Hill (Granddaughter) and spouse Derrick, Ginger Tucker (Granddaughter) and spouse Bryan, Christina Arpin (Granddaughter) and spouse Mike, Jeremy Vaupel (Great-Grandson) , Adam Vaupel (Great-Grandson) , Abby Vaupel (Great-Granddaughter) , Steven Parker (Great-Grandson) , Shannon Parker (Great-Granddaughter) , Scottson Parker (Great-Grandson) , Estella Hill (Great-Granddaughter) , Isabella Hill (Great-Granddaughter) , Victoria Arpin (Great-Granddaughter) , James Arpin (Great-Grandson) , Vanessa Arpin (Great-Granddaughter) , Patty Gutowsky (Niece ) and spouse Ed, Kenneth Stone (Nephew) and spouse Kim
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2024, 1:00 PM at Roselawn Memorial Heights Chapel in Salina, KS, with Pastor Jon Fillipi officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park in Salina, KS. Memorials may be made to Village Manor; 705 Brady, Abilene, KS 67410.
