
A proclamation request, a zoning change request, and an organizational meeting are among the items on the Salina City Commission agenda for this week's commission meeting.
About the meeting
Study sessions and city commission meetings will take place in–person in room 107 of the City-County Building, 300 West Ash Street, and via Zoom until further notice. Meetings also can be viewed at the City of Salina YouTube channel, https://www.youtube.com/cityofSalinaKansas.

If citizens wish to speak, either during the public forum or when the mayor requests public comment on an item, citizens attending via Zoom must raise their hands so that the meeting host can allow them to speak. Those who attend the in-person meeting will have the opportunity to speak at the podium.
Regular Meeting
The regular meeting is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
Commissioners are scheduled to consider a request to recognize Jan. 15, 2023 as Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemoration Day in the City of Salina. Romona Malone, member of the MLK Ad Hoc Committee, will read the proclamation
Commissioners also are scheduled to consider approving an ordinance relating to an application filed by Salina Destination Developement, Inc. to change the future land use of 41.92 acre tract of land located on the west side of Virginia Drive south of West Magnolia Road from future commercial use to future urban use.
Additionally, Commissioners will consider a second ordinance pertaining to Salina Destination Development. This ordinance, No. 24-11193 requests a change in zoning for the 41.82 acre tract from agricultural to multi-family residential.

At the conclusion of the regular meeting, Mayor Trent Davis is scheduled to make remarks at the conclusion of his mayoral term.
Following Hoppock's remarks, commissioners are scheduled to recess into an organizational meeting presided over by the Salina City Clerk. During the meeting, commissioners are scheduled to elect a new mayor and vice mayor. Additionally, Hoppock is to be recognized and presented with a plaque of appreciation.
